Japan Indigenous Groups

Ainu
The Ainu is a group of Japanese-Russian indigenous people. They generally speak the Ainu and a little bit of the Japanese language. The populations of these people are estimated to be around 27,000 but these are only the rough figure as some of the Ainu people have mix into Japan. The livelihoods of the Ainu people are dependent on fishing, hunting and crops growing. The cultural content of the Ainu people are also massive and it is definitely an area worth going into. The Japanese Government only recognizes the Ainu until recently and the citizens were forced to become part of Japan.

Ryukyuans
Ryukyuans are a group of indigenous people from Kyushu, a place in Japan. The languages that they converse in are usually Japanese and dialects. These people belong to Japan as the Ruler of Kyushu conquered Ryukyuan Kingdom during the 17th century. There is a strong cultural element within this kingdom and it is very rich in religion value and arts. They also have a variety of self-defense techniques in Ryukyuan and the different styles of martial arts vary by the village.
